Deepalu's cousin Gautam was returning from Vizag and my mother sent Lakshmi some nice eats as well as a pretty sari. Here are some pictures of the lovely Lakshmi enjoying some of the eats as well as the Sari. Many thanks to Gautam for acting as courier.
Here she's so happy in her new sari...
The three stages of eating a laddoo
Step 1: The anticipation...
Steps 2 and 3: Take a bite and savor the flavor...... Mmmmm........
And now it's time to mimic the Apco fashion model....

Happy Chinese New Year!
Gong Xi Fa Cai to all! Happy Chinese New Year. It's the start of the Year Of The Monkey today.
Lakshmi got decked up in her chinese finery. One of her colleagues at work gave her a big compliment when she called Lakshmi "one of the cutest pregnant women" she had seen. :-) I wholeheartedly agree, of course!

The 33rd week
Lakshmi had a visit with her doctor today and came back with information that the babies are healthy and doing well. They're estimated at 5lbs each. You can check out Lakshmi's progress here.
Here she is getting ready for her soccer match in her Golden Bears outfit.
Just kidding. She was just relaxing.
Also completed a couple of runs to the furniture store and bought baby stuff. The Ikea Diktad crib has been assembled and the mattress placed too.
An additional chest of drawers was purchased, and sits nicely in the living room waiting to be assembled.
Also got some baby clothes in preparation for the twins' arrival. Gender neutral, of course.

Annayya's short visit...
Thanks to the weird ways of investment banking, my brother flew all the way from Newark, NJ to have dinner with a client in the bay area. Lakshmi and I were overjoyed to see him. He came over and spent a few hours with us before his meeting. What's not to love about the charming brother of mine? He's an awesome chap, this Purnachandra Rao/Bob/SPC Rao/Puri/Purna.
Here he is checking his Blackberry.
Now who said he was better looking than me?

Hospital Tour
Hi all,
More updates. Our hospital will be El Camino Hospital in Mountain View. It is a good hospital and comes highly recommended by a lot of our friends who've been there.
On Monday Jan 5th, we went on a Maternity ward tour. It was both fun as well as educational. A nurse showed us around. We found out where we have to check in and what the labor/delivery room looks like. Pretty cool room complete with TV and everything. No cable, only terrestrial tv. :-p
Lakshmi got special treatment from the nurse as she was the only one with twins. We also got to see where we come in after hours. I was surprised to hear that there are only 10 labor/delivery rooms. I was expecting them to have a lot more. But they deliver on average only 12 babies a day. So 10 rooms/beds should be plenty.
We also saw some new borns (from a distance with a glass wall separating us). It was exciting stuff. The nurse told us we don't have to bring anything for Lakshmi except for going home clothes and toiletries. Babies will require going home clothes and car seats. The hospital will provide all of the other stuff.
